As 2017 draws to a close, let’s say goodbye and good riddance to these five worst fashion faux pas which reared their ugly heads.

1. Balenciaga’s Ikea-inspired tote

If you have ever shopped in Ikea you will be aware they offer you tarpaulin-made tote bags to place your items in while you shop. Balenciaga mimicked this design with their very own Ikea-inspired tote, valued at $2,145. The price of this tote leaves us questioning how these brands come to the evaluation of these prices? This bag is around 2,000 times the original value of an Ikea bag – around 99 cents.

2. Crocs

Crocs made their runway debut in the Christopher Kane SS 2017 fashion show, then Balenciaga debuted sky-high platforms in their SS 2018 show.

3. Deranged denim

“Thong jeans” created worldwide confusion on the runway when Japanese designer, Meiko Ban, debut them at Tokyo Fashion Week. These infamous jeans went from runway to Halloween costume with people creating their own versions. Detachable jeans, mud jeans and plastic jeans all made an appearance.

4. Denim on Denim

Bella Hadid was the denim queen, combining multiple shades of denim in different combos. It felt a bit Britney-and-Justin-a-la-the-MTV-Video-Music-Awards nearly two decades ago, and probably should have stayed there, too.

5. Man rompers

With jumpsuits, playsuits, and rompers becoming female wardrobe staples, it’s only natural that menswear brands attempted to jump into the onesie category. Man rompers were the 2017 male fashion trend no one was expecting. Even still, more than a few brave souls sported them through the warmer months.
