Hold onto your hair — Dyson has announced that a new and improved version of its sold-out Airwrap tool will be released later this year. The new Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler is reported to be a step forwards from the original Airwrap, which gained cult status for its ability to generate voluminous, softly curled hair with no heat damage.
If you’re not familiar with the original Airwrap, it’s a hair curler that uses the Coanda effect — an aerodynamic phenomenon in which air generates a spinning vortex around the tool’s cylinder barrel, wrapping your hair into a beautiful curl and reducing the risk of heat damage.
The Dyson team announced that the Airwrap has been “radically overhauled,” and that the new multi-styler also has a variety of new and revised attachments that will make styling your hair a lot easier and faster.
“The Dyson Airwrap is a styling revolution and unlike any other tool — back when it first launched and still today,” Jen Atkin, Dyson Global Styling Ambassador, said in a press release. “Now, the tool does even more, allowing owners to personalise to suit their styling preferences, personalised for their hair type. You can ensure every attachment in your box delivers your desired style, specific to your hair type. Something you thought couldn’t get better, just did.”
We’ll bring you our tried and true thoughts as soon as we get our hands on the new Airwrap. But, for the time being, here’s all you need to know about the game-changing new tool.
What to Expect With the New Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler
There are a few important feature changes to be aware of, most notably, three additional attachments:
Direction change styling barrels! Blending the results formerly achieved with two barrels into one, users can now create clockwise and anticlockwise curls and waves, without the need to switch attachment – simply rotate the cool tip and keep styling.
The Coanda smoothing dryer uses Dyson’s signature airflow to hide flyaways and frizz in a single pass. Achieve those coveted high-gloss styles like the ‘Liquid Bob’ with no extreme heat. Combining two attachments in one, it transforms into a powerful dryer with the flick of a switch.
A Wide-tooth comb attachment, engineered for curly and coily hair, helps to add shape, volume, and length as it dries. Dyson’s comb teeth are designed with soft curved tips to glide through the hair, with no sharp edges to catch, pull or cause damage.
It’s also worth noting is that the new Dyson Airwrap accessories will be entirely compatible with the previous device, allowing you to purchase just the new brushes and blowers rather than the entire system.
The new Dyson Airwrap multi-styler is priced at $999 and will be available from 16 June on Dyson.co.nz and from 7 July in third party retailers.
