Tokyo is a city that moves fast. Neon buzzes, trains hum and nearly two and a half million people cross the iconic Shibuya daily. So, when searching for the perfect place to stay during a jam-packed three days in Tokyo, I wanted somewhere that offered a true retreat from the hustle of the streets below. I also wanted a great location, great amenities and, of course, contemporary design. After researching my options on Booking.com, using the filter to refine my choices, I booked Hyatt House Shibuya. It ticked all the boxes: great location, great amenities and on point vibes to make our Tokyo adventure feel seamless, smart and seriously chic.

Welcome to Hyatt House Shibuya: A warm greeting and stunning cherry blossoms greet you.

The Location

Just a short stroll from Shibuya Station (750 metres, to be precise) and the aforementioned iconic Scramble Crossing, Hyatt House Shibuya hits that sweet spot: central enough to feel plugged into Tokyo’s electric energy but tucked away just enough to let you exhale. There are plenty of great little restaurants around the hotel, too, so you’ll never go hungry.

Shibuya is referred to as the youth heart and soul of the city. The hip neighborhoods of Harajuku and Omotesandō are walkable, so you can easily spend an entire afternoon boutique-hopping without losing momentum (or your sense of direction).

The Vibe

Hyatt House isn’t your standard cookie-cutter hotel experience. It’s designed for travelers who want space to live, not just sleep. The aesthetic here feels polished yet completely unfussy: clean lines, soothing neutrals and big windows flood the room with Tokyo’s soft city light. It’s giving “modern minimalist” with a delicate, luxurious touch.

There’s a certain effortless rightness to everything, from the curated art on the walls to the lightning to the friendly team waiting to greet you upon your arrival. Step outside the lobby and you’ll be greeted by a stunning rooftop garden terrace with spectacular views across the city, which leads to the indoor pool.

The Rooms

After a long day exploring all that Tokyo has to offer, returning to our spacious room at Hyatt House felt like an oasis of zen. Full-sized kitchens, sleek bathrooms stocked with premium amenities and living spaces that didn’t feel like an afterthought.

Our personal favorite? The massive, cloud-soft bed, layered with plush linens that practically demanded you dive in. It’s almost a shame that there’s so much to see and do in Tokyo, as the beds were so comfortable, I could have spent the whole time there.

This is the kind of room that doesn’t just accommodate your suitcase; it celebrates it. There’s plenty of room for outfits, ample bathroom space for the all-important skincare routine and  even a spacious dining area. In a city where space is limited, Hyatt House Shibuya felt decadently oversized.

The Restaurant

The Moss Cross Tokyo restaurant is your destination for an in-hotel dining experience. Unlike many hotel breakfasts that feel rushed or sad, this one is thoughtfully curated. Fresh fruits, Japanese and Western dishes, excellent coffee (key) and pastries good enough to make you momentarily forget your Tokyo bakery tour plans. The restaurant is also available for lunch and dinner reservations. I was impressed by the restaurant’s “farm-to-table” philosophy, too.

Extra Touches We Loved

  • 24/7 fitness center: Fully equipped with all the latest machinery.
  • In-room laundry: Fashion emergencies = solved.
  • Pet-friendly rooms: For the ultra-chic travelers who bring their tiny, Instagram-famous dogs along.
  • 24-hour on-site store: Conveniently located in the lobby, H Market is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, stock with the snacks and sundries that weary travellers may need.

Final Verdict: Would I Stay at Hyatt House Shibuya Again?

In a heartbeat. Hyatt House Shibuya makes us feel like part of Tokyo’s scene, not just passing through it. Perfect for fashion lovers, creative souls and anyone who wants their Tokyo adventure to feel just as curated as they are.
