Shop/Slow is a pop-up store featuring work by nine local fashion designers, makers and artisans presenting a selection of locally-made clothing, jewellery and accessories, running in Ponsonby Central from 19 to 25 February.
Shop/Slow: A natural reaction to modern day over-consumption and fast-fashion
Nice local designers including Out of Comfort, Jason Lingard, Mōfu and Blue Blank will be showcasing their talents want to encourage consumers to buy quality products less often and support local creativity and really understand where our clothing and accessories come from. “I prefer to work on custom pieces and limited editions that I fabricate and finish by hand using recycled metals and ethically sourced gemstones,” says Piha-based Julia Marin.
“The idea to hold a pop-up grew from our desire to support each other and encourage local creativity and ethically-made products”, said designer Jason Lingard. “Getting together as a group and having pop-ups like this means we can test our products, meet our customers face-to-face while gaining valuable feedback and exposure.”
“Supporting local makers and suppliers is important to me, as is keeping my supply chain as short as possible and always sourcing high-quality fabrics to add value and longevity.” – Out Of Comfort
