Following the news of Virgil Abloh’s tragic death on Sunday, November 28, many wondered if the designer’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection for Louis Vuitton, which was set to debut at Art Basel, would still take place. Even if finishing the show was one of his final professional requests — and in keeping with his ferocious work ethic — there’s a harsh finality to seeing Abloh’s final collection unfold in front of our eyes.
“Virgil Was Here” was live-streamed from Miami’s Marina Stadium on Tuesday evening, honouring the outstanding designer and his family’s wish to continue with the collection. The star-studded gala honoured the life and work of a creative talent who died far too young.
