When biker fashion first comes to mind, many of us will picture heavy leather jackets, flowing silver chains from pants pockets and aviator sunglasses. However, over the last few years, we’ve seen an evolution of typical biker fashion, into a more sophisticated, subtle and evolved trend.

Fashion houses are integrating inspired features into both catwalk and streetwear looks, think oversized leather jackets and accessories such as sunglasses with subtle references.

Brands such as Deus Ex Machina have evolved from creating custom motorcycles and accessories to creating a culture, one of fun, inclusivity, authenticity and enthusiasm. Their latest partnership with Specsavers perfectly encapsulates this philosophy.

The new eyewear collection channels individualism and adventure it into a range of unique optical and sun frames. Frames from the collection feature a mix of classic and modern design while making a subtle nod to the timeless biker aesthetic.

The partnership also sees strong attention to detail, including asymmetric pins along the frames that pay homage to the buttons on a biker jacket. It’s the little details that bring the collection together and make the frames a statement piece for any outfit.

Classic frames, such as the aviator style, have been given the Deus Ex Machina twist, including the Deus 6 which illustrate the effortlessly cool aesthetic of the brand with a dark metal frame finished with the iconic etched logo.

Other styles, such as the retro round  Deus 9 frame and the pilot inspired  Deus RX 4, have evolved to allow anyone to embrace the “no right way” individualism that the brand lives and breathes.

“We’re thrilled to add another stylish brand to our expanding designer portfolio and even more excited that this is an Australian born brand,” Specsavers Head of Frames, Juan Carlos Camargo says. “The Deus brand continues to achieve success on the global stage, and we are proud to be able to offer glasses wearers high-quality stylish products with the expert care, fit and Specsavers quality and value.”

Available in all Specsavers stores in New Zealand and Australia now. The Deus Ex Machina range is priced from $299 for two pairs of single vision.
