With styles ranging from translucents to molten metals, highlights from the Specsavers AW 2020 collection includes new collaborations with international design house DKNY, which has seen the exclusive styles recently joining Specsavers’ designer portfolio. Iconic streetwear label, Levi’s is also set to launch in all Specsavers stores from 28 May.
Other noteworthy releases include styles from HUGO, Marc Jacobs and Tommy Hilfiger, along with statement frames from Kylie Minogue, Lyle & Scott and Alex Perry — all crafted to help the wearer express their individual style and to feel good in their frames.
Commenting on the materials and new shapes for Autumn/Winter, Specsavers’ Head of Frames, Juan Carlos Camargo says, “The A/W ‘20 styles see interesting executions of the materials used, which has resulted in unique textures and interesting shapes in the designs. We have translucent acetate infused with bright pops of glitter in our new Marc Jacobs range, distinctive acetate and metal combinations in Levi’s collection and mottled acetate applications in our newest designer collaboration with DKNY – all up, the seasonal collection truly stands out for all the right reasons, with each frame created with premium quality finishes.
“Shapes emerging for the new season are those which have carried over from past seasons, with subtle nuances and evolutions. Vintage square shapes have been introduced in our Premium Metal range and the retro round frame continues to have a presence, with different interpretations such as squared-off edges to give the style a geometric look. We are also seeing a new take on the aviator frame, with bridgeless designs reinterpreted with the use of twisted temples and rose gold detailing.”
Soft Moss: Cool, Calm, Creative
A tinted take on a natural colour – ‘Soft Moss’ encompasses subtle grey undertones with hints of teal and green. This colour palette is understated, minimalist and works well for both men and women.
Molten Metals: Elegant, Manipulated, Abstract
Classic yellow gold and pale silver make a statement within this trend, with rose gold and satin finishes present to provide you with a touch of elegance. Textured metal details and irregular shapes complement the weightless and refined quality within this trend.
Updated Earth Tones: Umber, Natural Shades
Updated Earth Tones embodies the timeless look of reds with a warmer, more natural focus. The colour palette features rich browns and tortoiseshell with hints of red or yellow. This trend incorporates styles that are perfect for work, brunch to your lazy Sunday afternoon.
Translucents: Premium, Ethereal Transient Looks
These styles make a statement with their understated quality and the modern feel of a barely-there frame. The translucent trend allows glasses wearers to play around with colours and the materials within their frames. Choose a transparent acetate frame with a metal core for a subtle, sophisticated touch or add some glitter if you want to brighten up your look.
Soft Touches of Grey: Minimalist Subtle Tones
This trend embodies the season of Autumn/Winter, as minimalistic and subtle greys come back into play. This trend can be executed in a myriad of ways — whether it’s as a pop of colour or a complementary detail to truly lift an outfit.
