David Beckham has joined the British Fashion Council in the newly created role of ambassadorial president that sees him tasked with representing British fashion at home and abroad, helping to create new relationships in the United States and Asia.

The soccer player and founder of Kent & Curwen will also support the BFC’s education missions, from scholarships to arts education. “Taking on this new role is an incredibly proud moment for me. I have long been passionate about British style, fashion, and craftsmanship, and this role gives me the chance to get under the skin of an industry I love,” said Beckham in a release.

“I am excited to be working closely with the British Fashion Council to promote and inspire young talent, from across the U.K., on a global scale. The fashion industry is one of our best performing global exports and I am looking forward to working with our future leaders and supporting the BFC in their global ambitions.”

What’s more, it coincides with Victoria Beckham’s decision to move her show to London from New York, cementing the clan as the First Family of British fashion (as if they weren’t already).
