Maggie Hewitt describes her brand, Maggie Marilyn as “Livable Luxury”, paying homage in part to her native New Zealand’s “laid-back lifestyle”. However, there’s nothing laid-back about the young designer’s impact on the fashion industry.

Coming from an entrepreneurial family, having her own brand was always Hewitt’s ambition and after graduating Whitecliffe College at the end of 2015 she began working on her first collection. Family friend and industry powerhouse, Jo Knight, helped Hewitt take the Maggie Marilyn brand to market.

Her success was immediate and she broke records as not only the first New Zealand designer but also the first-ever first-season designer to be picked up bt Net-a-Porter.

While cemented as a global brand, Maggie Marilyn is manufactured in New Zealand, which is very important to Hewitt who thinks it’s “really special to know exactly where out clothing is coming from”.

Watch her interview in full above, and stay tuned as Hewitt is just getting started.
