IKAT (meaning “to tie”) Indonesia is a label that is not afraid to showcase its cultural heritage, in fact, they celebrate it using traditional weft fabric, made in Indonesia. Producing modern clothing within these traditional methods actually makes for quite a collection. The result producing woven patterns texturised to perfection and the shapes and effects that have been conjured here give a kaleidoscopic effect. That blue dress would have even the soberest of judges seeing shapes.

Inventive in style, we especially love the pants under those dresses. Give us the grey pants with unbuttoned effect and a pop of colour for any day of the week! In fact this is the best thing about the collection, it’s all super comfortable and at the same time, interesting. For the night, try pairing one of IKAT’s peplum tops with a plain pant, or if you’re fearless then perhaps one of those mighty dresses could compliment your personality.
It is a well rounded collection that has all the bases covered. It is also great to see a brand from Indonesia sticking to its roots, in the world of fashion it is very refreshing to see something new; for IKAT however, it is like blending Indonesia’s past with present day tastes in ready-to-wear clothing. Highly commended.
