The Edmund Hillary Collection made its official debut at NZFW 2018 with a collection of premium heritage pieces that include replicas of the original gear worn by Sir Ed and Tenzing Norgay when they became the first to conquer Mt Everest in 1953.

The high-end outdoor clothing range weaves in the mountaineering legend’s devotion to helping others, with proceeds from sales going to help people in Nepal and New Zealand.

Sir Ed’s grandsons George and Alexander are faces of the brand and made their runway debut alongside sister, Lily.

We caught up with the guys at Grand Mercure Auckland to discuss the inspiration behind the brand, continuing their grandfather’s legacy of adventure, and taking the collection up a Russian mountain.
